Self Inflating and Jet Propulsion? The New SIPA Boards Technology Advancing Inflatable SUP's

October 16, 2015

Inflatables are convenient because of their ease of transport and their durability. Pumping up the board is often a good warmup before going out on your endurance paddle. What if all you wanted to do was get on a board and putter around the water workout free? Isn’t there something for the people that want the convenience and the experience without all the cardio?

Prepare to have your mind blown! Sipa Boards brings you a new age inflatable that not only pumps itself up, but also has a jet propulsion system! Their Sipadrive is a center mounted removable jet propulsion system that also acts as a pump. When activated it can pump up the board in a matter of minutes, and the pressure from the board itself is what holds the Sipadrive in the otherwise hole in the center of the board.

The jet was designed to balance the assistance of the motor and the safety of the user. This was accomplished by encasing the propeller in a plastic housing that essentially forms a jet tunnel. The greatest part is that even when not being used, it has been designed to eliminate drag. The controls for the speed are located on the paddle, providing 5 settings, and allowing an average sized male up to 3 hours of paddling at a cruising speed of 2 knots. For safety purposes, if the paddle is in the water, or is separated by a distance of 3 meters, the motor turns itself off. They even have an option for LED lighting!

It’s smart, it’s sleek, it’s new, and it does all the work for you.  This is a product that we can see overtaking the market, and are looking forward to demoing one soon!  Check out the video to see it for yourself!
